Japanese Visible Mending with Libby Fearnley of KEEP

3 hour workshop | $125.00

Saturday, 10/24 | 4:00 9m - 7:00 pm

Join us at for a three-hour introduction to sashiko, the traditional Japanese practice of stitching used to mend, reinforce, and give new life to cloth led by Libby Fearnley of KEEP, a Brooklyn-based mending studio (keepmending.com).

Rooted in generations of resourcefulness and care, sashiko is as beautiful as it is practical. Its rhythmic stitches and simple geometric patterns offer a thoughtful way to repair and preserve the textiles we live with.

Libby will share the traditions and techniques of sashiko through demonstration and guided, hands-on practice. Together, we'll explore how this humble form of handwork can bring new character and longevity to the things we already own.

All materials are provided, including sashiko needles, thread, adhesive templates, and a leather thimble.

Basic hand-sewing experience is required. No previous sashiko experience is necessary.

Class size: limited to 8
