In this three-hour workshop, Libby Fearnley of KEEP, a Brooklyn-based mending studio,
will introduce two traditional methods of knitwear repair: Scotch darning and honeycomb darning.
Through demonstration and guided, hands-on practice, you'll learn how these techniques
can be used to repair holes, reinforce weakened areas, and extend the life of your favorite knitted pieces.
Bring along a sweater, scarf, or other knitted piece in need of attention, and spend a few hours discovering the quiet pleasure of mending by hand.
All materials are provided, including darning needles, darning yarn, and an embroidery hoop. Darning mushrooms will also be available for use during the workshop.
Please bring: A knitted item to mend and reading glasses, if needed.
Basic hand-sewing experience is required. No previous darning experience is necessary.
